At Welton we believe that developing character and being a good citizen are essential for life in Britain and the world around us. This is why we have developed a Citizenship and Character Award which encourages children and families to take part in a range of activities that promote these skills and attributes. They are also a lot of fun and provide ideas for families to complete together! The activities focus on 5 main strands:
‘Developing Me’ – To explore personal skills and interests.
‘Physical Me’ – To encourage physical activity, including healthy eating.
‘Wellbeing Me’ – To develop positive mental health and wellbeing.
‘Local Me’ – To discover and celebrate the local area.
‘Global Me’ – To learn more about their place as a global citizen.
When children have successfully completed 3 activities from each strand, they are awarded a bronze award. When 5 activities from each strand have been completed, they achieve a silver award. To achieve the top gold award, our children are encouraged to complete 7 activities from each strand! In previous years we have had quite a few gold winners!
